To make a basilisk egg, use a silly puddy egg from the dollar store. Sand off the print and rough up the egg. A rotary tool with the sanding bit will speed things along. Later when the egg is finished, fill with Mexican jumping beans also from the dollar store.
Use tacky glue to create a scaled ridge on the egg. It took two coats of glue to get a raised ridge that I was happy with. Let each coat dry. Then paint the egg a putrid shade of green.
Fill the egg with the jumping beans and a small rubber snake. Glue together with tacky glue and clamp it until the glue is dry. Also, a pinch of spackling at the egg seam will smooth things out. Then touch up the spackle with paint.
Log your basilisk egg into the field study guide and put egg in case of beasts. ; D cheers!
Cheers! Creative ambition, imagination and loads of coffee are my truth.
